Almost 100 people gathered at the YMCA Kirkcaldy Gallatown Hub for a special Fife Kinship Families Day, bringing families and partner organisations together for a day filled with fun, connection and support.Â
Families enjoyed a range of activities throughout the day, including alpaca visits, face painting, games and outdoor activities. As well as providing opportunities for children and young people to have fun, the event created a welcoming space for kinship families to meet others with shared experiences, make new connections and learn more about the support available to them.Â
The event was made possible through collaborative working between Intandem, YMCA Kirkcaldy, Foundations for Families and the Kinship Care Team at Fife Council, with valued support from Active Schools, Kinship Advice Service for Scotland/Children First, Raith Rovers Community Foundation and Volunteer Matters.Â
While the event brought a wide range of partners and support services into one space, its most important purpose was to create a day where kinship families could have fun, feel welcome and meet others in a relaxed setting. The connections with organisations and services grew naturally from that shared experience and supportive space.Â
The event highlighted the positive impact of partnership working and was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when organisations work together towards a shared commitment to empowering kinship families to thrive.Â

One young person captured the spirit of the day perfectly, asking:Â
“When can we do this again? Next week? Will you all be here again?”Â
This simple question reflected the enthusiasm and enjoyment felt throughout the day and highlighted the value of creating opportunities for kinship families to connect, have fun and feel part of a wider community.Â
Intandem would like to thank all the families, partner organisations, volunteers and staff who helped make the day such a success. We look forward to continuing to work together to support children, young people and families across Fife.Â
