About

At Aberlour, we are there for children, young people and families across Scotland, helping transform lives for the better. We support them through challenges like:

  • living with a disability
  • growing up in and leaving care
  • the impact of drugs and alcohol on families

We are committed to getting it right for our children by tailoring our services to help each child, young person and family achieve their own personal goals. Giving children the best possible start in life is at the heart of everything we do.

Locations

Our intandem mentoring service supports and encourages children and young people across Renfrewshire and Inverclyde who live at home but are looked after by their local authority. Training is usually held in our offices or online however our volunteers meet young people in their communities across Renfrewshire and Inverclyde.

Aims

intandem seeks to help children and young people aged 8-14 years who are looked after at home. We know how crucial it is for all young people to have at least one long-term relationship with a positive adult role model. Most of the young people that intandem matches face a number of challenges; our trained volunteers support them to build a positive, trusting, supportive and secure relationship. Through intandem, we seek to provide regular weekly meetings with a trained volunteer mentor who holds the young person in positive regard and who will encourage them to access to age appropriate activities and build confidence, skills and resilience.
