Intandem, Inspiring Scotland’s mentoring programme for children and young people experiencing the care system, is seeking a new delivery partner in Dumfries and Galloway.
Funding of £30,000 per year for three years (2026–2028) is available, with the potential to extend support for up to five years, through to 2030.
Given the scale of the available funding, we anticipate it will enhance existing local provision, such as increasing staff hours or adding a part‑time role within an established project.
Intandem partners employ a local, community-based Mentor Coordinator, who is responsible for recruiting, training and supporting volunteer mentors, and for providing ongoing support to the children and young people they are matched with. Partners also work closely with local families, statutory services and third‑sector organisations to identify and prioritise young people who would benefit most from mentoring and help them connect to wider support where needed.
Based on our experience, we expect the successful organisation to build relationships with 15 kinship families, supporting 15 children and young people in kinship care each year.
Speaking about the opportunity, Intandem Fund Manager Susie White said:
“We are delighted to be extending Intandem into Dumfries and Galloway, supporting more children and young people with experience of kinship care. Our aim is to partner with an organisation that is already well connected within local communities to help make this possible.”
This opportunity has been made possible through a recent investment from the National Lottery, for the wider expansion of Intandem across Scotland. Thanks to National Lottery players, Inspiring Scotland has received almost £4.5 million from The National Lottery Community Fund. The funding will be used to support children and young people in kinship care through mentoring in Scotland, and connect kinship carers through networks across the UK.
Applications are now open and will close at midday on 18 May 2026.
