intandem mentoring supports children and young people experiencing the care system, whether they’re living at home with parents, in kinship care with family or friends, or on the edge of care.
Mentoring typically begins between the ages of 7 and 15 and continues for as long as it’s needed. While the average mentoring relationship lasts around 16 months, some may last even longer.
Meeting with their mentor once a week provides children and young people with a crucial sense of space, stability, and support. Through their mentoring journey, they work towards their goals—big or small—unlocking new opportunities and broadening their horizons.
In addition to supporting young people, intandem coordinators ensure that families facing challenging times also get the help they need. A trusted relationship is developed with each family, enabling them to access broader support, whether it's emotional guidance, conflict resolution, or assistance in finding other specialised services.
Here are just a few of the ways we make a difference:
- Building Confidence: Empowering young people to believe in themselves and their abilities.
- Strengthening Community Connections: Helping young people feel comfortable and engaged in their local spaces and community.
- Improving Health: Supporting both mental and physical well-being.
- Encouraging Positive Life Choices: Guiding young people toward making healthier, more informed decisions for their future.
- Improving Engagement with Education: Helping to improve attendance and engagement with school.
- Supporting Home Life and Relationships: Assisting with managing challenges at home and fostering better relationships with family and friends.
- Supporting Their Needs: Offering support in various situations, ensuring their voices are heard and needs met.
We’re dedicated to helping young people unlock their full potential and build brighter futures.
