We receive requests for mentoring from a range of people including social workers, teachers, charities, and families. You can make a request for mentoring for a young person aged 7 to 15 years old who is experiencing the care system, whether they’re living at home with parents, in kinship care with family or friends, or on the edge of care.

If you would like to enquire about mentoring for a child or young person please follow these steps:

  • Find your nearest intandem to see which of our partner charities is closest to you.
  • Call or email your local intandem coordinator using the contact details.
  • Ask the young person if they would like to try mentoring.
  • Provide the intandem coordinator with information to help with the process of finding the right mentor for the young person.

Once the intandem coordinator receives all the information needed, the following will happen:

the intandem coordinator visits the child or young person and their family at home to get to know each other and explain a bit more about mentoring.

the intandem coordinator will identify a suitable volunteer mentor.

the child or young person meets the trained volunteer mentor with the coordinator.

if a successful match, the mentor and young person will meet weekly for as long as needed.

The coordinator will send regular updates on the match.
