Volunteer Glasgow

About

Volunteer Glasgow believes in a Glasgow where everyone freely commits to making a positive difference in the life of the city.  We believe that through volunteering we all can make a difference, directly and indirectly to the lives of others in a vast range of ways.  Our direct services include befriending and mentoring for a range of client groups.

Locations

Volunteer Glasgow’s intandem seeks to help children and young people aged 8-14 years who are looked after at home and who live in the South or the North West of the city.

Aims

Volunteer Glasgow’s intandem seeks to help children and young people aged 8-14 years who are looked after at home and who live in the South or North West of the city. Most of the young people that intandem matches face a number of difficulties and many have had experiences of relationships which have been inconsistent or unreliable.

intandem seeks to offer these young people a different experience – one where they have opportunities for new and positive activities, where they have choices, where they can learn to trust their own judgement and where they can have fun.

We work together to provide:

  • regular weekly visits with a volunteer mentor who holds the young person in positive regard,
  • access to age appropriate activities
  • support from experienced and informed staff
  • enough time to build a relationship which allows the young person to develop confidence, skills and resilience.

If you would like to be part of this, either as a volunteer reaping the rewards of helping a young person gain in confidence and achieve their potential or as a young person enabling an adult to enjoy a positive volunteering experience you should definitely contact us.
